I trained as an Art Psychotherapist at Hertfordshire University having previously completed a BA Honours in Media and Design. I continued my professional development with further Post Graduate trainings. My interest in understanding the origins of human behaviours led me to the Infant Observation training at the Tavistock, London.
I am committed to continuing to maintain my professional development through attendance at relevant conferences and training events. I also attend clinical supervision and maintain professional links with other professions.
I have professional registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
I am a full member of the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT).
I am also registered as a BAAT approved Private Practitioner.
I have enhanced DBS clearance for working with children and adolescents.
I have civil liability insurance for all private clinical work.
I abide by the code of conduct and the principles of practice as set out by BAAT and HCPC.
I have extensive experience of working with children, families, parents and adults over more than 20 years. I have specialised in the clinical area of the mental health of children and young people. The training I have undertaken has focused on personality development, emotional development, attachment and the impact of trauma on development.
I am currently in private practice, having been previously employed for 12 years by a local NHS CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental health Service) team. I have experience of working within specialist schools as well as mainstream, adolescent inpatient units, adult mental health units, and with Social Services Looked after Children. I also offer consultations regarding mental health to professional teams and individuals.
I am a Lecturer on the MA Art Therapy at the University of Hertfordshire and enjoying offering supervision to trainees and professionals who are establishing their practice.
